WBB Hosts Stonehill Saturday to Close Non-Conference Slate
Golden Eagles and Skyhawks tip at noon CT at the Al McGuire Center
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women’s basketball team hosts Stonehill in the non-conference finale on Saturday, Dec. 21 at noon CT.
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS
• Stonehill is coming off a 65-49 win at Northeastern on Wednesday afternoon.
• The Skyhawks are in the middle of their third season playing NCAA Division I basketball.
• Stonehill was picked to finish fourth in the NEC preseason poll.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST STONEHILL
• Saturday is the first meeting all-time between Marquette and Stonehill.
LEE FIRST CAREER DOUBLE DOUBLE
• Lee Volker recorded her first career double-double on Wednesday night at Bowling Green with 17 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
• The senior guard tied her career-high with three 3-pointers, including one with 13 seconds left to get the game within one possession.
• It was her fourth game this season with 17-or-more points.
DEFENSE LEADS THE WAY FOR MU
• Marquette is first in the BIG EAST and 16th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (34.1 percent) and have held opponents to under 45 percent from the floor in all 10 games this season.
• MU is 36th nationally holding opponents to 55.3 points per game.
• The Golden Eagles have held opponents to under 53 points four times this season and have held teams to 10-point-or-less in 11 quarters this season.
CRASH THE GLASS
• In Marquette’s seven wins this season, the Golden Eagles have outrebounded their opponents in each contest by an average of 14.4 rebounds per game.
• A Marquette player has pulled down six-or-more rebounds 21 times this season, led by Halle Vice who has done it seven times.
BLOCK PARTY
• Marquette is first in the BIG EAST and 12th in the nation at 5.7 blocks per game.
• Skylar Forbes is second in the BIG EAST and 36th nationally with 21 blocks on the season.
• The sophomore forward is second in the conference and 32nd nationally at 2.1 blocks per game and had a career-high five blocks in the road win at Rutgers on Nov. 29, 2024.
LEE ON BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT WEEK
• Senior guard Lee Volker earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the second time in as many weeks.
• Volker had a career-high 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and a career-high seven steals against Milwaukee on Sunday, including 19 first half points.
• The Purcellville, Virginia native had the best shooting clip of her career, going 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) from the floor.
• It marks four-straight weeks MU has had a player on the conference weekly honor roll.
