WISN 12’s Celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month Culminates in Local Television Special

‘Project Community: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage’ to air on WISN 12 on Tuesday, October 15th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

MILWAUKEE, WI (October 7, 2024) –WISN 12 will present a half-hour televised special titled ‘Project CommUNITY: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage’ on the final day of National Hispanic Heritage Month Tuesday, October 15th, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The program will feature positive and uplifting stories about the Hispanic community and culture in Southeastern Wisconsin.

“We take great pride in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month,” says Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN 12. “We’re honored to showcase how Hispanic culture is an integral part of our community and our lives.”

National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15, 2024, through October 15, 2024. It aims to recognize and celebrate the impact and contributions of Hispanic Americans.

‘Project CommUNITY: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage’ will be hosted by WISN 12 News’ Anchor Diana Gutiérrez and WISN 12 Sports Director Dario Melendez. The television special is part of a month-long campaign from WISN 12 during National Hispanic Heritage Month. Throughout the month on “WISN 12 News,” the station produces stories, profiles, and reports about notable voices and developments involving the Hispanic community.

“Diana and Dario are very passionate about this celebratory month,” adds Wade. “WISN 12 is committed to telling these stories, not just during the month, but throughout the entire year.”

Stories to be featured in the special include the impact of the Hispanic vote, a tour of Hispanic meals, the history and growth of El Rey grocery stores, the artist behind some of Milwaukee’s most iconic murals, a one-on-one with Brewers star outfielder Jackson Chourio, and more. WISN 12 is committed to important local coverage of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The campaign is part of ‘Project CommUNITY: Hispanic Heritage Month’ from Hearst Television – WISN 12’s parent company.
