Shilling statement on 20 week abortion ban

"Once again, Republicans are failing to address the important economic and financial challenges facing our state and are instead forcing their political ideology on women across Wisconsin."

MADISON – Senate Democratic Leader Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) released the following statement in response to legislation being proposed by Republican lawmakers that would further limit access to health care for Wisconsin women and families:

“We need to protect a woman’s freedom to make decisions about her health care and prevent further political intrusion into personal decisions that are best left to a woman, her doctor, her family and her faith. Once again, Republicans are failing to address the important economic and financial challenges facing our state and are instead forcing their political ideology on women across Wisconsin.

“For victims of rape and incest and women with rare and unexpected medical complications, this bill will limit their freedom to choose and prevent health professionals from delivering the highest standard of medical care. Abortions after 20 weeks are extremely rare and often result from extraordinary health complications that require doctors to consider every medical option available. This bill will jeopardize women’s safety and prevent health professionals from making life-saving medical decisions.”

  1. Barb West Bend says:

    How Republicans Govern:

WATCH out for that person behind that tree.
Watch out for that PERSON behind that tree.
WATCH OUT FOR THAT PERSON BEHIND THAT TREE!

This is the Republican method used to reflect voters from the real issues of the day. This works well for voters who are easily frightened,

Our budget surplus of several years ago was returned to the people. Then, in addition, the people, businesses, and corporations were given tax rate reductions or tax breaks. Supposedly those tax breaks would increase Revenue receipts enough that we would not have to cut programs. But, gosh, that didn’t happen. And now we the people must suffer the consequences of the ‘Magical Thinking Syndrome’ of our Republican leaders. Republicans are sly…like FOX.

  2. AG says:

Rumor has it that several Democratic state senators are preparing to introduce a new bill which will legalize post birth abortions of their fetuses up until a minimum of 104 weeks after parturition. This bill is essential in maintaining a woman’s right to choose in order to enable her to maintain a quality of life and address situations of rape, incest, and unexpected medical emergencies.

  3. PMD says:

I heard that Mary Lazich and Leah Vukmir will introduce a bill making it a felony for any institution of higher learning in the state to mention the word “abortion” in any courses they teach because according to them a reputable study shows saying the word out loud harms women and a fetus they might have growing inside of them.

  4. AG says:

I heard that too. The leading replacement I believe is evacuation of the product of conceptus.

  5. PMD says:

They are proposing complementary legislation allowing elected representatives such as themselves to legally serve as OB/GYNs in their Madison or district office on a part-time basis.

  6. Kyle says:

Since we’re going off the deep end today, I think they might as well just call it a cure:

Cancer: noun: a malignant growth or tumor resulting from the division of abnormal cells

Given the DNA differences, it is an abnormal growth of cells for the body, which can cause harm if left untreated.

  7. AG says:

    Fridays are fun.

  8. PMD says:

Ha I was going to say the combination of it being Friday and a touch warm are responsible for the deep end nature of things.
