Congresswoman Gwen Moore Sends Letter to Social Development Commission Board of Directors Following Closure
After learning the Social Development Commission (SDC) closed its offices, which are all located in the 4th Congressional District, Congresswoman Moore sent a letter to SDC board of directors. In this letter, she raised several questions such as the status of its federal funds and the urgent need to communicate its closure to clients and vendors. She also wrote a letter to the Office of Community Services, Administration for Children and Families, United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), seeking their guidance on their process and to ensure that her constituents have access to the resources they need during this transitional period.

Congresswoman Gwen Moore Applauds Funding to Promote Safe Roads and Address Reckless Driving
Sep 5th, 2024 by U.S. Rep. Gwen MooreThe City of Milwaukee will receive $25 million in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation for street safety improvement measures along two miles of Center Street. These enhancements will include upgraded bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings, and traffic-calming measures designed to reduce reckless driving.
Thank you Congresswoman Moore for sharing that letter–one in which our community is wondering why the board did not put this information out to the public in the first place. I put a great deal of the blame for not only the shut down but for not providing adequate oversight and stewardship of these expenditures to begin with. This is a governance failure by the board and the quick shut down appears to be a CYA. If this matter can be resolved–and for all who need these programs and services–I hope it can. A new and capable board should be put in place that takes their responsibilities seriously.
