Peter Burgelis Convincingly Wins District 11 Election
MILWAUKEE: Tonight, Peter Burgelis defeated Joshua Zepnick to win the April 2nd general election for Milwaukee Common Council 11th District Alderman. Burgelis replaces Mark Borkowski who previously announced his retirement.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point. Whether you’ve knocked on doors, made calls, or donated, I couldn’t have done this without you. Thanks to you, residents in the 11th district will have a strong advocate who will continue working to make Milwaukee a better place for all. I’d also like to thank Mark Borkowski for his service to our community for the last 32 years.”
“My election tonight is another historic one for Milwaukee and for the LGBTQ+ community. I’m the first out gay man elected to the Common Council. Along with Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa, City Hall will now have an LGBTQ caucus that will ensure residents of all orientations are protected in our community. The 11th District is truly exemplifying the “Equity” value of our city and I’m proud to represent them.”
Burgelis will start his term on April 16, 2024. The 11th Aldermanic District includes neighborhoods in southwestern Milwaukee. Find a full map here.
