Garden Home Releases Single “Worst of It,” Announces Debut Full-length Album
March 1, Milwaukee, WI – Without the low points in our lives, the highs wouldn’t feel so rewarding. That’s the idea behind “The Worst of It,” the latest single from Milwaukee post-hardcore band Garden Home. The single is the second release from the band’s upcoming debut Self-Titled LP, out April 12 via Thumbs Up Records.
“Recording with Cody Ratley again was a no-brainer for us – he understands the massive sound that we’re chasing that really captures our live energy,” says guitarist Mike Holloway. “That’s evident all throughout this debut record that we have all worked so hard on over this last year.”
“The lyrics in this song were born out of frustration and depression – including the things that hold us back like self-doubt and harmful coping mechanisms,” says vocalist Dylan Mazurkiewicz. “These factors in our life play a critical role in wanting and choosing more for ourselves. At times in life, you literally must ‘feel the worst of it’ to appreciate the good things in life and remind yourself to be grateful.”
Garden Home first teased its self-titled debut album with “Past Life,” released in 2023 alongside news that the band was signing with Thumbs Up Records – who will be releasing a vinyl copy of the album. Preorders for that vinyl are available now on Thumbs Up Records’ website. The band is excited to unveil the album artwork for the LP, a multimedia project featuring photography taken by Samer Ghani and illustration by Naudiir. The album was recorded, produced, and mixed by Cody Ratley of Shamewave and World I Hate and mastered by Justin Perkins of Mystery Room Mastering.
The band will celebrate the release of the album with a show at Cactus Club on Friday, April 19 with support from Excuse Me, Who Are You? / Harrison Gordon / The Other’s Like Us / Buena Cara. The show starts at 8 p.m. and is 18+. Tickets are available for $12 in advance or $15 day-of-show.
In support of the album, Garden Home is announcing a tour with label-mates Tiny Voices, hitting dates in Chicago, St. Louis, Tulsa, and Kansas City from May 2 to May 5. The tour includes a spot on the Gnargaritaville 2024 festival in Tulsa, OK on May 4.
