FreeEvent Navigation
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s and Archives Department, Film Studies Program, and Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres present Home Movie Day. Community members from Milwaukee and surrounding cities and counties are invited to participate. The public is invited to bring in their home movies in 8mm, Super 8, 16mm, VHS, Mini-DV, or digital formats to have their materials inspected and/or repaired by UWM volunteers and screened for an audience while the owner narrates. The event is open to people who want to simply watch other people’s home movies as well.
Throughout the day, volunteers will provide quick explanations on how to care for film, video, and digital files, ideas on where to get old media transferred, tips for choosing a vendor, and other subjects. There will also be a recurring raffle and interactive games such as Home Movie Day Bingo, where participants will identify objects on screen for prizes!
The event is free and open to public. It will take place in Mitchell Hall at UWM (3203 N Downer Ave, Milwaukee WI 53211) Room B91 on Saturday, October 14th 12PM-4PM. Community members are welcome to drop by from 12pm-4pm, and films will be screened on a first come, first served basis (as projectors become available).
