Milwaukee PBS’ SPEAKING OF… Podcast Wins NETA Award

MILWAUKEE; September 20, 2022 – The National Education Telecommunications Association (NETA) recognized Milwaukee PBSSpeaking of… podcast at its 54th Public Media Awards Gala held September 18 with the top award in its podcasting category. Milwaukee PBS was also one of four finalists in the Overall Excellence in Content category. NETA’s public media awards honors its members finest work in multiple categories including overall excellence, content and education.

Speaking of… is Milwaukee PBS’ first venture in podcasting. The podcast makes public media personal. Alexandria Mack, Mariano Avila and Scottie Lee Meyers host Speaking of… They combine a passion for storytelling, concern for community and self-reflection to engage listeners in celebrating the Milwaukee area. The discussions consider life in southeastern Wisconsin, highlighting national and global topics of public interest, framed by diverse personal perspective and thoughtful consideration. Listen to the first season of Speaking of… with your favorite podcast listening apps including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Podbean and others. You can also hear Speaking of… at milwaukeepbs.org. New episodes will drop in January 2023, but new micro-stories will be available in October.

As a finalist for overall content, Milwaukee PBS is honored to be recognized for an abundance of local and regional programming including four locally-produced monthly programs; digital-first programs; documentaries like America’s Dairyland: At the Crossroads; cultural programming including Live from Bradley Symphony Center: The Milwaukee Symphony; and many more.
