MPD Officer Involved Shooting
MILWAUKEE, WI – On August 11, 2022, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers were conducting a narcotics investigation on the 1800 block of W. Greenfield Avenue when they observed two individuals engaged in a suspected hand-to-hand drug transaction. One of the individuals was observed with a gun in his waistband.
Officers approached the armed suspect, at which time the suspect fled on foot and a foot pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, an officer discharged his firearm, subsequently striking the suspect. The suspect was arrested on the 1300 block of S. 19th Street.
No officers or other members of the community were injured from the gunfire. The suspect’s firearm and suspected illegal narcotics were recovered.
The suspect, a 30-year-old Milwaukee man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries and is in stable condition.
The officer is a 30-year-old male with over 3 years of service. The officer will be placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved incidents.
The Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Division is leading the investigation. This a fluid and ongoing investigation.
