Beer Tasting Fundraiser at Leff’s Lucky Town to Benefit the Family of Shannon Freeman

By - May 25th, 2022 10:15 am

Leff’s Lucky Town will be having our friends from City Lights here to take over the taps in our North bar for the night on Thursday, May 26th.

From 4-7pm we will have the 4 tap lines in the North bar featuring different City Lights beers, along with members of the City Lights team on hand. There will be raffles and giveaways as well.

This event will be a fundraiser for the daughter of Shannon Freeman. Shannon was the chef at City Lights Brewing. He was shot and killed in a bar downtown earlier this year. He has a young daughter that we are raising funds for with this event.

Along with proceeds from various raffles, $1 from each City Lights beer will be donated all day and night. There is also a link to a Go Fund Me below if you would like to support the cause and are not able to attend.

Shannon was the Head Chef at City Lights, but he was so much more than that. Shannon was many things to many people. He was our friend, and he was an all-around good human. Shannon’s smile could light up a room and his laugh was infectious. Shannon was a man of character; so much so that just being around him made you want to be a better version of yourself. Shannon was a big man, but without a doubt the biggest part of him was his heart. Anyone that knew him was blessed to have experienced a piece of that, and we’re all immensely saddened that his time was cut short. While we are certainly hurting, our heart goes out to his family, especially his daughter for the incredible loss they are experiencing. Shannon’s abrupt end to life was a senseless and cowardly act of violence that left a hole in many hearts, and tragically a daughter without a father. This senseless act of violence is a microcosm of a greater problem the City of Milwaukee faces. While we come to terms with how to deal with that, we urge you to hug your loved ones, and to teach that violence is never the answer.
