Job fair offers employment, experience working on new NWM tower

By - Oct 17th, 2014 09:35 am

Common Council President Michael J. Murphy invites residents to attend a job fair on Monday, October 20, to learn about opportunities that are available during the upcoming construction of a new tower in downtown Milwaukee. Doors will open and handouts will be available at 4:30 p.m., and a presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Northwestern Mutual will soon begin building a $450 million headquarters downtown. The job will require many skilled construction workers over the next five years, and President Murphy said WRTP / BIG STEP will provide the training and access to trade apprenticeship opportunities necessary to start a career in construction.

The job fair will also offer resources to address barriers to employment, such as lack of a driver’s license or GED, and other assistance.

Those who are interested can call WRTP / BIG STEP at 414-342-9787 for more information. The event is free and open to the public.
