Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program now available to provide relief for residents

This week Governor Tony Evers announced the launch of the Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program which will provide more than $92 million in financial assistance to homeowners who have experienced financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Alderman Khalif J. Rainey is encouraging local residents in need of assistance to take advantage of this opportunity.

“Our community is still very much recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the new Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program can serve as a vital lifeline to those who may be struggling with mortgage payments, local property taxes or utilities,” Alderman Rainey said. “I would encourage all homeowners to review the eligibility requirements and take advantage of this funding if it can support you and your family.”

Qualifications for the Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program include:

1. If you are a Wisconsin homeowner living in a single-family home, duplex, condo or factory-built home.
2. You have been financially impacted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic since January 21, 2020.
3. Your hou​sehold income is at or below 100% of the county median.​ Check your income here.

Those eligible can fill out and submit an online application by visiting https://homeownerhelp.wi.gov/. (Language options are available for English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali). You can also call 1-855-2-HOME-WI to get additional information or find out how to apply in person. Applications are open on a first-come, first-served basis.
