MLK Community Center to Host Make a Family Smile 2021 Drive-Thru Turkey Drive
MILWAUKEE – The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Milwaukee County Parks, We Care Crew, and King Advisory Inc. will host the Make a Family Smile 2021 Drive-Thru Turkey Drive on Monday, November 22 at 10 a.m.
“I am happy to partner with the King Center, Milwaukee County Parks, the We Care Crew, and King Advisory, Inc. on such an important event for our community,” said Supervisor Priscilla Coggs-Jones. “This event provides essential supplies and delicious turkeys to those in the most need at the beginning of the holiday season.”
The 11th annual Turkey Drive hosted by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, is drive-thru, COVID-safe, and provides turkeys and winter resources to families, with a goal of serving 1,500 families. Turkeys will be distributed, one per household, until supplies run out. The turkeys have been donated by Cargill.
The We Care Crew is a partnership between Milwaukee County’s Office on African American Affairs, Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Administrative Services, Milwaukee County Parks, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Milwaukee Police Department , City of Milwaukee Health Department & Office of Violence Prevention, 414Life, the PEAK Initiative, and other community partners.
The King Advisory Inc. is a 501(3)c non-profit that guides the programming of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center opened in 1979 in King Park and is operated by Milwaukee County Parks.
