Rep. Robyn Vining Commends Call for BadgerCare Expansion Special Session
MADISON – Today, Governor Tony Evers announced a special session for BadgerCare expansion and to invest the $1 billion in cost savings from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) into economic recovery and development projects across Wisconsin. Governor Evers signed Executive Order #116 calling a special session of the Wisconsin State Legislature to vote on LRB-3568 on Tuesday, May 25th. Rep. Vining issued the following statement in support:
“I applaud Governor Evers for calling a special session on BadgerCare expansion. Expanding BadgerCare would provide healthcare coverage to an additional 90,000 Wisconsinites, reduce private premiums by between 7-19%, and save more than $630 million in state tax dollars. The American Rescue Plan Act adds an additional $1 billion in savings for Wisconsin if we expand BadgerCare, bringing the total savings to over $1.6 billion, which can provide critical investments in our economic recovery and development as we emerge from this pandemic.“Throughout my time as a State Representative, my constituents have consistently advocated for BadgerCare expansion. The majority of Wisconsinites support BadgerCare expansion. BadgerCare expansion is the moral and fiscally responsible decision for our state — so let’s get it done.”
Rep. Vining represents the 14th Assembly District, which includes parts of Brookfield, Wauwatosa, and Milwaukee. For more information, visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
