AFSCME Endorses Charlie Fox for 5th District Milwaukee County Board Seat
Charlie Fox, candidate for 5th District County Supervisor, was endorsed last week by the Milwaukee County PEOPLE Committee of AFSCME District Council 48.
MILWAUKEE- Charlie Fox, candidate for 5th District County Supervisor, was endorsed last week by the Milwaukee County PEOPLE Committee of AFSCME District Council 48.
“Hard working public employees have for decades been central to a prospering middle class in Milwaukee,” Fox said in a statement, “so I am honored to have received AFSCME’s endorsement. My father belonged to a federal employees union for many years. My wife belonged to local public employee unions most of her professional life, first WEAC as a teacher, and later a federal employees union as a lawyer at the National Labor Relations Board. I know firsthand that public employees fight for the well-being of people and families, and their unions serve the public good by fighting for them.”
“Milwaukee’s hard–pressed middle class faces many challenges,” Fox continued. “One of those challenges that I am particularly passionate about is Milwaukee County’s public transportation. We must expand and fund our high-quality public transportation system if our communities are going to succeed. We need to get working people to their jobs – and unemployed people to where there are family supporting jobs.”
The 5th District seat was vacated by Russell Stamper II after his election to the Milwaukee Common Council. The election for this race is November 4th.
