Milwaukee Public Schools to host Celebrating Abilities Family Forum
The annual event will celebrate and support families whose children have special education needs
MILWAUKEE (March 7, 2021) — Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) will host its fifth-annual Celebrating Abilities Family Forum. The forum will be held during the week of March 8-12 and is intended for families to learn more about special education services, programs, and community resources for children.
Starting tomorrow, five virtual workshops will take place from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.:
- Monday, March 8 – Learn how Platform Troubleshooting and Assistive Technology can support virtual learning
- Tuesday, March 9 – Review what an Individualized Education Program (IEP) means and how it structures education and academic services
- Wednesday, March 10 – Discuss ways to cope with stress and discover strategies to empower families to create a positive learning environment
- Thursday, March 11 – Get information on the Children’s Long-term Support Waiver Program and its benefits
- Friday, March 12 – Celebrate special education success and share your ideas
