The documentary feature Forward, which showed to sold-out audiences in limited screenings in Madison and Milwaukee in 2013, has been posted online for download for $5. To purchase a high definition copy via Vimeo on Demand, simply click on the link on the film’s web site, www.forward-movie.com.
Self-financed by Dusan Harminc and Matt Mullins, Forward takes viewers back to the tumultuous early months of Gov. Scott Walker’s first term, when surprising policies set off an uprising that pushed state senators out of office, triggered the third governor recall election in American history, and inspired the Occupy movement that swept the country. The film employs the reflections of people involved in the Wisconsin protests, from teachers, farmers, business owners and firefighters to nationally known figures like musician Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, journalist John Nichols of The Nation and The Capital Times, and Buffalo Beast journalist and prankster Ian Murphy.
The film’s soundtrack features music from locals Geoff Sabin of Columbian Monkey Knife Fight and Josh Klemons, and ends with a recent Morello track titled Black Spartacus Heart Attack Machine set to footage of the 2011 Madison protests.
