I love Wisconsin and I love Milwaukee – that is why I’m running.
Tia Torhorst Announces Campaign for 10th Assembly District
SHOREWOOD – Tia Torhorst, a proven progressive and lifelong Democrat, announced today she is running to represent Shorewood and Milwaukee in the 10th Assembly District. Tia is looking to replace retiring Representative Sandy Pasch.
“For nearly 20 years I’ve worked to move our community and State forward. I’m excited about the support I’ve already received from my neighbors and people across the district and I look forward to meeting people throughout our community to talk about ways we can address the challenges our state currently faces.”
Tia has a long record of leadership and results supporting and working on progressive and democratic issues. She currently sits on the Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin Board; previously she worked for Wisconsin AIDS Fund, Milwaukee Bar Association, National Partnership for Women and Families and County Executive Chris Abele.
“I believe there is much more that unites us than divides us. As someone with true roots in the community I promise to focus on policies that support safe neighborhoods, strong schools and creating family supporting jobs.”
As a working mother with two small children, Tia looks forward to sharing more about why her background and experience working with different stakeholders to find common goals and work towards them will benefit the 10th Assembly District. More importantly, she looks forward to hearing from the more than 50,000 residents of this District to hear what is important to them and their families.
“I’ve spent my career focusing on bringing positive changes to our community and to make the region a better place to live, work and raise a family. I love Wisconsin and I love Milwaukee – that is why I’m running.”
Tia is a UW-Madison graduate who lives in Shorewood with her husband Brian Spahn, who was born and raised in Shorewood. Tia and Brian have two children.
