Supervisor Ortiz-Velez Extends Condolences to Family and Friends of Teresa and Luis Contreras
MILWAUKEE – Supervisor Ortiz-Velez released the following statement extending her deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Teresa and Luis Contreras, who passed away due to the actions of a reckless driver on Saturday night, October near S. 27th St. and W. Edgerton Ave.
“The death of Teresa and Luis Contreras was a senseless act and was completely avoidable,” said Supervisor Ortiz-Velez. “Reckless driving is becoming an extremely pervasive problem in our city and efforts need to be taken to curtail it. The City of Milwaukee has seen too many deaths from irresponsible motorists in the past few years. Teresa Contrera was a contributing member of our community and did great work with Core el Centro and Mujeres con Poder.”
Supervisor Ortiz-Velez had just awarded Teresa Contreras and Mujeres con Poder with a citation from the County Board recognizing their work in Kosciuszko Park that Saturday morning.
