MILWAUKEE — Jonathan Brostoff, candidate for State Assembly District 19, released a statement after Rep. Sandy Pasch’s announcement that she will not seek re-election:
“I am sad to hear that Rep. Pasch will not seek re-election. The state will lose a thoughtful, passionate legislator dedicated to improving the lives of Wisconsin’s citizens. She has brought a measure of reason to a body that has of late been bitterly partisan and divided.
“Sandy’s leadership in the area of mental health reform is unsurpassed. Since we first met at a Milwaukee County Democrats meeting, she inspired me with her vision for mental health parity in Wisconsin. She lent her direct service expertise as a psychiatric nurse to the cause of fighting for badly needed reforms in the state’s mental health care system. Her passion was apparent in her speeches as well as the legislation she sponsored.
“Sandy has been a mentor, a friend, and a leader. I was proud to be a team member working on her first election, when we were outspent and going against the grain. When she broke her hip canvassing her district and kept knocking on those doors and talking with the residents while in a wheelchair, she showed she had the type of work ethic and passion needed from our elected officials. She has continued to inspire, overcoming great odds, and working with folks from all over Wisconsin to do some wonderful things for those who are most in need.
