Faculty experts can help media covering pandemic’s impact on mental health
MILWAUKEE _ The coronavirus public health crisis is also taking a toll on the mental well-being of Americans. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee faculty members can assist media covering the pandemic’s impact on mental health, as well as a range of other topics related to COVID-19. For example:
- W. Hobart Davies, the chair of the psychology department, can discuss the importance and availability of mental health services by telehealth options during the pandemic, as well as how professionals can be helpful during this time, specifically as it relates to child anxiety/adjustment.
- Another psychology faculty member, Shawn Cahill, can talk about how to recognize symptoms of anxiety and how to address them. He can also speak about the importance of telehealth options during the crisis.
- Meghan Ariotti, a clinical instructor in the College of Nursing, can discuss how to talk to children about the health effects of COVID-19. She can speak about the importance of managing your health online, including the use of virtual doctor visits.
