MPD continues to investigate Officer involved shooting of homicide suspect
On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at approximately 02:02 p.m., Milwaukee Police officers were dispatched to a shooting incident that occurred on the 2700 block of West North Avenue. The 911 caller stated a female was shot by a male.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a male, who was armed with a firearm and had just shot a female. This suspect then fired his firearm at officers at which time two officers fired shots at the suspect, subsequently striking the suspect. The suspect, a 51-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured during this incident.
The victim was identified as Cathy King, a 49-year-old female. Ms. King and the suspect were involved in a domestic relationship. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.
