Jonathan Brostoff Gives Support for Marriage Equality Amendment

The amendment would repeal a previous constitution amendment made in 2006 that banned gay marriage in Wisconsin.

Milwaukee-Jonathan Brostoff, Candidate for Wisconsin State Assembly District 19, immediately gave his support to the amendment to repeal the gay marriage ban in Wisconsin proposed earlier today by Sen. Tim Carpenter and Rep. JoCasta Zamarripa.

“I am proud to see that the Democrats in the legislature are standing up against discriminatory language currently in our State Constitution and fighting for what is right,” Brostoff said in the statement. “It is high time we stop trying to legislate love and let everyone in Wisconsin marry the person that they love. This is not a debate, it is a basic human right.”

The amendment would repeal a previous constitution amendment made in 2006 that banned gay marriage in Wisconsin.

“If elected, my constituents can count on my full support to promote and pass this amendment, to end every legal pretext for discrimination, and to promote a culture of inclusion in our state,” Brostoff continued. “The current language is nothing more than legal discrimination and it is wrong. I hope that this change of our constitution happens, it is an important step in towards true equality in Wisconsin.”
