Former WILL attorney launches open government law firm
"WILL is pleased to welcome the Wisconsin Transparency Project to the scene."
The News: The Wisconsin Transparency Project, a new law firm led by former WILL Deputy Counsel and open government expert Tom Kamenick, launched this week with the goal of enforcing Wisconsin’s open records and open meetings law. Kamenick served at WILL since 2011, specializing in open government issues.
Wisconsin has strong open government laws, but politicians and government records custodians are increasingly making it difficult and expensive to obtain public records. To tip the scales in the public’s favor, The Wisconsin Transparency Project will offer free consultations on open government issues and represent any person who is seeking any public record in Wisconsin on a contingency basis.
More information can be found atwiopenrecords.com. Attorney Kamenick can be reached at (262) 365-7434 or tom@wiopenrecords.com.
The Quote: Rick Esenberg, President and General Counsel at WILL, said, “WILL is pleased to welcome the Wisconsin Transparency Project to the scene. Open government is a vital, bipartisan project that requires talented and dogged attorneys. Tom Kamenick is the right person for the job and we look forward to collaborating in the public interest.”
