Governor Walker Appoints Attorney Laura Crivello to Milwaukee County Judge
Laura Crivello has served as an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee County for over twenty years.
MADISON – Governor Scott Walker today appointed Attorney Laura Crivello to serve as a judge on the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, replacing retiring Judge Jeffrey Kremers.
“I am honored to appoint Laura Crivello to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court,” said Governor Walker. “Crivello is a distinguished attorney and individual who has demonstrated impeccable character, service, and integrity throughout her career. Crivello’s distinguished background as a prosecutor and strong commitment to justice gives me great confidence that she will be a valuable asset to both the bench and the surrounding community.”
Laura Crivello has served as an Assistant District Attorney in Milwaukee County for over twenty years. During this time, she has handled various felony and misdemeanor criminal cases including those involving homicide, firearms, drugs, domestic violence, community prosecution, and child protection cases. Crivello is the team leader of Milwaukee’s prosecution for the High Intensity of Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) which focuses on the dismantling of drug trafficking organizations, gun trafficking organizations, and violent gangs. The Wisconsin Law Journal named Crivello a 2017 recipient of the “Women in the Law” award.
Judge Timothy Witkowiak highly recommends Crivello, stating, “Laura has been a team leader for the high-intensity drug trafficking unit for a number of years. This unit deals with some of the most difficult, well-heeled and dangerous defendants. As a result, she regularly battles some of the best defense attorneys in the state. Laura has not only held her own but also has prevailed under very difficult circumstances.”
Judge Timothy Dugan wrote in support of Crivello, stating, “She is always prepared and respectful of the court and all parties including victims, witnesses and defendant’s rights.” Judge Dugan adds, “I believe that Ms. Crivello is uniquely qualified to serve as circuit court judge in Milwaukee County.”
The Milwaukee Police Association praised Crivello stating, “The wide variety of assignments that she has challenged herself with over the years has garnered her well-rounded experience; which has forged a solid foundation – undoubtedly creating the opportunity for an exceptional future judge.”
Crivello received her juris doctor from Marquette University and her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
