MADISON, Wis. – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) issued the following statement on Wednesday urging the Legislative Council Study Committee on Alcohol Beverages Enforcement to reject any proposals aimed at harming small businesses and entrepreneurs in order to help special interests gain an unfair advantage. At previous meetings, the committee considered proposals to effectively ban popular wedding barns by adopting legislation similar to the immensely unpopular “Tailgate Ban” from earlier this year and discussed helping taverns get a leg up on their competition by banning beer sales in winery tasting rooms.

AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott issued the following statement:

“The public overwhelmingly embraces the craft beverage industry and innovative event venue options like wedding barns. Instead of trying to protect established industries by regulating new competition out of business, the legislature should focus on positive reforms that will help these new businesses expand and thrive even more in the Badger State.”

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) exists to recruit, educate, and mobilize citizens in support of the policies and goals of a free society at the local, state, and federal level, helping every American live their dream – especially the least fortunate.
