Wisconsin Republicans Are Calling For Unity. Why Is Kevin Nicholson Is Criticizing Ron Johnson?
"[P]lenty of people in our own state...are not happy with things Ron Johnson does"
MADISON — Not everyone is happy ahead of Wisconsin Republicans’ Friday attempt at a “unity rally,” during which Speaker Paul Ryan and Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner will stump for Republican Party of Wisconsin-endorsed candidate Leah Vukmir.
At a campaign event last week, Vukmir’s primary opponent Kevin Nicholson suggested that U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson‘s record and past votes have earned him the scorn of Wisconsin Republicans: “[P]lenty of people in our own state in the political class…are not happy with things Ron Johnson does all the time.” Johnson and others have urged “the weaker” candidate to drop out, but Kevin Nicholson’s out-of-state mega-donor Dick Uihlein has continued to spend big to buy Nicholson the election. And Nicholson has continued to attack Vukmir at campaign events across the state, including by slamming Vukmir as an “insider’s insider.”

One Year Out: WisDems See Surge of Energy as Over 1,000 Volunteers Knock Doors One Year From 2026 Elections
Nov 4th, 2025 by Democratic Party of Wisconsin"We found it makes a tremendous difference when neighbors understand their community, know people, and understand their way of life. They can connect on a more individual basis. It is much more effective than just another campaign ad or someone flown in from out of state and paid to do it, when it's someone who actually has the same stakes and benefits as you. That's why we focus on neighbors talking to neighbors." – WisDems Chair Devin Remiker
