Milwaukee, Feb. 15, 2018 – The Board of Trustees of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) promoted Cheryl A. Maurana, PhD, to senior vice president for Strategic Academic Partnerships. Dr. Maurana will continue to serve as Stephen and Shelagh Roell endowed chair and professor and founding director of the Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Institute for the Transformation of Medical Education, and senior associate dean and founding director of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment.

Dr. Maurana served as MCW’s vice president for Strategic Outreach from March 2012 to August 2014, when her title changed to vice president for Academic Outreach to better reflect her leadership role in advancing inter-institutional academic partnerships.

In addition to her work with the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment and Kern Institute, Dr. Maurana was also instrumental in the creation of MCW’s School of Pharmacy and regional campuses in Green Bay and Wausau. As she has taken on more expansive strategic partnership roles, the MCW administration and Board of Trustees has chosen to expand her title to reflect the broad scope and nature of her duties as well as her senior position as a representative of MCW.

“Cheryl is an immensely talented and energetic individual who possesses a rare combination of extensive operational and strategic talents and experience,” said John R. Raymond, Sr., MD, president and chief executive officer of MCW. “She continues to be one of our most effective thought leaders, ambassadors and representatives, and I am pleased by the Board’s decision to acknowledge her remarkable talents by promoting her to an expanded role for MCW.”
