Milwaukee-area auto dealer reprimanded
Odometer violations resulted in three-week suspension
The motor vehicle dealer license of a Milwaukee area auto dealership was suspended temporarily by the state of Wisconsin for 21 calendar days. In an effort to keep its motor vehicle dealership license, Moe Motors LLC, 1701 Rawson Avenue, South Milwaukee, agreed to follow better business practices. The dealership acknowledged it improperly replaced odometer clusters on 11 vehicles it sold, causing the odometer to register a lower mileage. Moe Motors LLC agreed to provide restitution to individuals who purchased the vehicles with replaced odometers.
A Special Order issued by Brian Hayes, Administrator of the Wisconsin Department of Administrations Division of Hearings and Appeals, found that these violations warranted the suspension of the motor vehicle dealer’s license. The suspension was effective May 31, 2017, through June 20, 2017. This action is the result of an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Dealer and Agent Section.
While suspended, the dealership could not engage in any activity that requires a motor vehicle dealer license. Any future violations could result in the loss of the dealership’s motor vehicle dealer license. Moe Motors LLC agreed to allow agents or employees of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to inspect all business records necessary to verify compliance with the Order Suspending License.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Dealer and Agent Section licenses, regulates and educates the motor vehicle industry, and resolves disputes about dealership sales and warranty repairs. It also investigates complaints about odometer tampering involving dealerships and private sellers.
