Senate Opens Session with Bipartisan Jobs Bill
Senate Bill 1 was approved unanimously and now goes before the State Assembly for approval.
[Madison, WI] Today the Wisconsin Senate met for the first floor period of the year and advanced the first legislation of the 2017-18 session. On the day’s calendar was Senate Bill 1, a tax incremental financing provision projected to create more than 100 jobs within Wisconsin. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald released the following statement:
“I am thrilled that the Senate could begin the legislative session with a great bipartisan bill that will create jobs within the state of Wisconsin. Today we demonstrated to our constituents that their representatives in the Senate are ready to get to work for Wisconsin.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the bill’s author, Senator LeMahieu, for his diligent efforts in recent months to ensure that this legislation was ready for floor debate today.”
Senate Bill 1 was approved unanimously and now goes before the State Assembly for approval. The Senate also approved Senate Resolution 2 updating the body’s official rules for the current legislative session.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) represent the 13th Senate District, which covers portions of Dodge, Jefferson, Waukesha, Washington, Dane, and Columbia counties.
