Changes Coming for Several Bus Routes Through Downtown
The sale and demolition of the Downtown Transit Center means changes for several MCTS routes that run through Downtown Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE – The sale and demolition of the Downtown Transit Center means changes for several MCTS routes that run through Downtown Milwaukee. The new routes will allow riders improved access to the Milwaukee Intermodal Station (Route 12) and a direct route to grocery stores, restaurants, and the Lakefront for people living on the west side (Route 33). The new routing also clears up some bus congestion along Wisconsin Avenue.
Signs alerting riders of the changes were posted at bus stop along Wisconsin Avenue this month. MCTS Drivers and staff will be talking with riders and answering questions on and along the routes the weeks of August 22nd and August 29th.Beginning August 28, 2016, segments of the following four routes are changing because of the Downtown Transit Center:
- Route 12 (Teutonia-Hampton)
- Route 31 (State-Highland)
- Route 33 (Vliet Street)
- Route 42U (6th Street – Port Washington Road UBUS)
Beginning August 28, 2016, the following four routes have minimal bus stops changes because of the Downtown Transit Center:
- Route 44 (National Flyer)
- Route 79 (Menomonee Falls Flyer)
- Brewers Line (Route 90)
- Route 137 (House of Correction)
