The Best Ride to the Wisconsin State Fair
Traffic and parking are as easy as pie when you ride the bus to Wisconsin State Fair! Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) provides several choices of an easy, convenient and economical ride that will get you straight to the gate.
Traffic and parking are as easy as pie when you ride the bus to Wisconsin State Fair! Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) provides several choices of an easy, convenient and economical ride that will get you straight to the gate. Freeway Flyers and the Watertown Plank Shuttle operate from 7:30 am until one half-hour after close every day of the Fair, from Thursday, August 2 to Sunday, August 12, 2012. (Please note: On Sunday August 5, the Fair ends at 11 pm, bus service is until 11:30 pm, on Sunday August 12, the Fair ends at 10 pm, bus service is until 10:30 pm.)
MCTS local services also provide convenient ways to get to and from the Fair, with stops near State Fair Park entrances.
FREEWAY FLYER SERVICE
All Flyers operate every day of the Fair from 7:30 am until one half-hour after the Fair closes, with the exception of the Green Bay lot which starts at 7:20 am. The last trip leaves the Fair shortly after Fair close.
Flyers operate to and from the State Fair Transit Center at Gate 4.
Please note: Wisconsin State Fair will NOT offer an admission discount coupon to Freeway Flyer riders this year.

Half-hour service:
The following Flyers operate every half-hour on the hour and half-hour:
§ College – (Route 40) – College Ave, at I-94 (both lots)
§ Southridge – (Route 46) Edgerton & S. 72nd St., Southridge Parking lot
§ Whitnall/Hales Corners – (Route 46) I-43, east of S. 108th St.
Hourly Service:
The following Flyers operate hourly at the times noted below:
§ Green Bay – (Route 49) Green Bay Rd., just north of Brown Deer Rd.
– Served hourly at 20 minutes past the hour, starting at 7:20 am
§ Brown Deer East – (Route 49) Brown Deer Rd., west of I-43
– Served hourly at 30 minutes past the hour, starting at 7:30 am
FREEWAY FLYER FARE
Round trip adult fare is $6.50 while children (6-11), seniors (65 and over) and persons with disabilities with proper ID pay $3.00 round trip. Riders with a Weekly or Monthly Pass add $2.00. Also, on both the Shuttle and Freeway Flyer, U-PASS, Freedom Pass and Commuter Value Pass are accepted as full fare
SHUTTLE SERVICE
Shuttle service operates between Wisconsin State Fair Park Transit Center at Gate 4 and Watertown Plank Rd Park-Ride Lot on Watertown Plank Rd., west of Hwy. 45. The Shuttle service runs daily during the Fair, approximately every 15 minutes beginning at 7:30 am. The last trip leaves the fair shortly after Fair close.
SHUTTLE FARE
Shuttle round trip fare is $3.00 for adults and $1.50 for children (6-11), seniors (65 and older) and persons with disabilities with proper ID. Children under 6 always ride free.
2012 SERVICE CHANGE
State Fair will NOT offer an admission discount coupon to Freeway Flyer riders in 2012. Some local MCTS Route 23 buses will serve State Fair (see attached map, info below). Same as in 2011, there will be no Ozaukee County Express State Fair service in 2012.
LOCAL SERVICE
New this year, SOME Route 23 buses will operate between downtown Milwaukee and the State Fair Transit Center at Gate 4 to provide additional local service to the Wisconsin State Fair. From downtown, the Route 23 to State Fair starts from the bus stop on 2nd St. just north of Wisconsin Avenue. The buses will stop at regular Route 23 and 56 bus stops along the route between downtown and the State Fair Transit Center at Gate 4 off of 84th St. Service hours for the Route 23 to State Fair leaving from 2nd and Wisconsin Avenue are 7 am to 7 pm. Return trips to Plankinton and Wisconsin Avenue will be made from 10 am to fair close. Service runs every 15-20 minutes. Return service runs every 30 minutes after 7 pm.
Local MCTS Route 56 (Greenfield Ave.), Route 67 (N. 76th St.-S. 84th St.) and Route 76 (N. 60th-S. 70th St.) also stop near State Fair Park entrances.
Regular fares are in effect for Routes 23, 56, 67 and 76 which are $2.25 for adults; and $1.10 for children (6-11), seniors (65 and older) and individuals with disabilities with proper ID.
