Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin Applauds Gov. Walker for Signing Civil Service Reform
Civil Service reform will create a more efficient and effective state government
MADISON, Wis. — Americans for Prosperity–Wisconsin issued the following statement in response to an announcement that Governor Walker will sign legislation overhauling the state’s antiquated civil service system today in Appleton.
“Governor Walker’s actions today will allow state government to provide higher quality services at a lower cost,” said Eric Bott, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin. “Civil service reform modernizes the state’s hiring process allowing Wisconsin to hire the best and brightest to serve the public.
“Government managers will now have the tools to hold employees accountable if they abuse the public trust and to reward the very best employees in public service based on merit. With the signing of this bill, Wisconsin is leaving behind the human resources policies of 1905 and entering the 21st century.”
The organization’s more than 130,000 in-state volunteers have been encouraging lawmakers to pass civil service reform. It’s members have sent hundreds of letters to lawmakers, reached out with phone calls, and educated the public through social media, columns, and more.
