How to Build a “Happy City”
Our book club is back. Next up is Charles Montgomery's book on designing better cities.
The next installment of the Urban Milwaukee Book Club will focus on the recent evolution of American cities. We will be reading Happy City by Charles Montgomery.
Happy City examines the influence of design on cities and the people that inhabit them. Montgomery explores the relation between a happier city and more environmentally friendly city, as well as the role that economics play in that. Beyond design, the book links the fields of physiology, neuroscience, public health and behavioral economics.
We will convene for discussion and a social hour on February 22nd in the backroom of My Office, 763 N. Milwaukee St, at 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend, the discussions are informal and open-ended.
The book is available from Amazon, the Milwaukee Public Library, and bookstores everywhere.
