Police officers deserve our support always, and especially during these difficult days
Statement from Alderman Bob Donovan September 8, 2015
It goes without saying that I am 100% in support of the fine men and women who serve our city as Milwaukee police officers, and that full support also extends to law enforcement officers across all jurisdictions here and across our nation.
I feel a strong connection to police officers in general, and I am very proud to call them friends and to have them as a part of my own family. I know the significant sacrifices they make and I know full well that they put their lives on the line daily to ensure the safety of our city.
As we see an uptick in violent attacks on officers, and a marked increase in blatant disrespect and profanity directed at our officers, I will continue to stand with our officers and to do all I can in urging the community to also stand up in support and to allow zero tolerance of disrespect and negativity toward our officers.
In these difficult days we need to stand united in support of our police officers, as they’ve most definitely earned that support (and then some), in my opinion.
