Republicans play politics with women’s health, taking options away from pregnant women in medical crisis
Representative Lisa Subeck Questions Fast-Tracked Proposed Abortion Ban
MADISON –Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement as the Assembly takes up SB179 in a special session.
“Republicans are playing politics with women’s health, inserting themselves into decisions that should be made privately between a woman and her doctor. We must protect a woman’s freedom to make her own health care decisions without interference from politicians.
We know that less than 1% of all abortions take place after 20 weeks in Wisconsin. Women who seek abortions at this time in their pregnancies are generally women who face serious and life-threatening health problems, untenable pregnancies, or severe fetal anomalies.
It is unconscionable that Republicans are using a special session to consider this legislation that would take medical options away from these most vulnerable women and families. However, Governor People: Lisa Subeck, Scott Walker
