South Milwaukee PAC Presents Imago Theatre: FROGZ

(South Milwaukee, WI) – South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center (SMPAC) proudly presents Imago Theatre’s FROGZ, on Friday, October 24, at 7:30. FROGZ is an inventive, creative and highly visual performance that is designed to entertain people of all ages. The New York Times described FROGZ as “A mastery of mime, dance and acrobatics.” And, the simplicity and charm of this show catapulted FROGZ to two Broadway runs at the acclaimed New Victory Theatre.

“We’re excited about bringing this visually entertaining show to our audience and we’ve wanted to do so for years, but the timing didn’t work out. This year, we were able to make it work, and we’re thrilled to include FROGZ as part of our 10th Anniversary Season,” says Rachel Sorce, South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center’s Executive Director. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early and hear students of the Skai Academy Band perform a mini concert in the lobby before the show.

Tickets for the Friday, October 24th performance are $20 to $40, with discounts for seniors and students. Parking is free. The show will start at 7:30 p.m.

ABOUT IMAGO THEATRE

The performers of Imago Theatre’s FROGZ have entertained hundreds of thousands of spectators during festivities and in theatres across the globe. FROGZ is Imago’s signature production, and has evolved over time with its actors, musical accompaniment and designers. The show is well known for scenes including shy amphibians, glowing orbs and agile larva that will never close their curtains as a forgettable performance. FROGZ will introduce young minds to the imagination of theatre through a sophisticated art.

The Imago Theatre performers have traveled across the continents of Europe and Asia, along with The United States and Canada, for more than two decades. Imago’s well known works have been showcased in the New Victory Theater in Broadway, New York three times. The Independent Reviewers of New England awarded Imago Theatre with “Best Touring Production.” The company also received the New York Dance Film Award.

ABOUT SKAI ACADEMY BAND

The Skai Academy Band is a youth fusion cover band from Milwaukee. The group is comprised of youth vocalists and instrumentalists aged 10-15 years old and from various cultural backgrounds. The group is known for its diverse musical style and ability to play traditional to mainstream R&B and rock-based music, to funk grooves and jazz stylings, and for its captivating live performances.

South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center (SMPAC) provides the greater Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin communities with creative, innovative and diverse performing arts. Located on the South Milwaukee 6-12 campus, it serves the students of the city of South Milwaukee and provides professional services for more than 500 shows, performances, rehearsals and other events annually.

Upcoming 2014-15 artists include Br(OK)en Genius, WindSync, Milwaukee Ballet II, the Pedrito Martinez Group, Robert Trentham in In Thinking of America: Songs of the Civil War, and Jerome Kitzke. Student matinees, workshops and talk-backs for all grade levels are provided by some season artists, including Robert Glasper, the Milwaukee Ballet II, Avner Eisenberg and Sybarite5. Other artists and organizations that provide performing arts experiences for students include the Florentine Opera, Danceworks, Still Waters Collective and the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

SMPAC also opens our doors to other presenters for artists such as George Winston, Lindsey Buckingham, Arlo Guthrie, Jesse Cook, Ruthie Foster, Tommy Emmanuel, John Hiatt, Ian Hunter, Joe Lovano, Cantare Chorale and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. The SMPAC provides a home to the School District of South Milwaukee events and the Grant Park Players, the local community theatre.

SMPAC is located at 901 15th Avenue in South Milwaukee between College and Rawson Avenues. It is easily accessible from I-94 and 794. Free parking is located in the northwest parking lot.
