Stone Creek’s Downtown Cafe to Reopen
After a remodeling the headquarters cafe and roasting facility in 1889 building returning.
Stone Creek Coffee’s Factory Cafe at 422 N. 5th St. has been temporarily closed for remodeling since July 1, 2026.
On Tuesday, the coffeehouse announced it will welcome back patrons to the space on Oct. 16.
“A lot has changed. A lot is still changing. And somehow, it still feels like us,” the announcement said.
Stone Creek has been a fixture in the 137-year-old building since 1999, when it opened its headquarters and roasting facility there. This renovation is the first since Stone Creek transformed the former headquarters and facility into a coffee shop in 2012. The location’s name, Factory Cafe, comes from this history.
Photos accompanying the reopening announcement show that a planned hand-painted floral mural has been completed. Other changes include a newly revamped accessible bathroom and rearranged furniture.
“The work isn’t quite done yet, but you can start to see where we’re headed,” the announcement said, citing a new commercial kitchen on the way.
The kitchen is set to expand Stone Creek’s Project EAT, the coffeehouse’s scratch-made food program that stands for Elegant, Accessible and Transparent.
“Same old bones. New energy,” is the tagline the announcement concluded with.
The location will still house Stone Creek’s bakery, roastery and Learning Lab, which also received updates.
