Urban Milwaukee now offers readers a new feature: News Bulletins with insider updates.

These bulletins, provided by our news staff, appear throughout the week, as often as five times a day and are quick hitters and news scoops of interest to anyone following the Milwaukee scene.

Recent examples include Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley’s answer as to whether he will run for governor, Fuel Cafe’s addition to national list of coffee shops favored by motorcyclists, a city data release on voter turnout in the presidential election by aldermanic district and a decision by Ian’s Pizza’s to open a new location at Marquette University.

Other items have been about notable local deaths, important health department announcements, entertainment updates, key government personnel changes and new dining specials or cooking classes offered by local restaurants. The list is varied, the style is quick and breezy.

Some of these shorts may lead to later stories by Urban Milwaukee, but they give you a head’s up before the story appears. The idea is to create a kind of urban diary that keeps you abreast of all the little and sometimes big things that are happening around town.

We have added this feature as an exclusive for Urban Milwaukee members, as another benefit they get. Meanwhile we have added a partial paywall that bars some of our best stories — some 20 a month — to non-members. So if you’re not a member you are no longer getting the complete coverage of Milwaukee we provide.

What will it cost you to become a member? Just 3 cents per story. Yes, that’s the true cost for everything you get. In an average month we publish more than 300 stories and the cost for that is just $9 per month or $99 per year. And that doesn’t include our news bulletins, which as noted only go to members.

Why not try it for just one month? Members are free to cancel at any time. And consider all the benefits:

  • Access to some 20 stories a month that are paywalled and barred to non members
  • Full access to our new and growing feature, News Bulletins
  • Completely ad-free content on our website and a configurable daily newsletter
  • Free tickets to concerts, festivals, and other great events as they become available through our partners
  • A 10% discount on all merchandise at Urban Milwaukee: The Store, 755 N. Milwaukee St.
  • The ability to comment on articles
  • A faster photo browser

Yes, you’re missing out on a lot.

So don’t get left behind. Get the full benefits of Urban Milwaukee and make sure you have access to all our stories and news bulletins. Don’t delay. Become a member today.
