1955, July, Parkway Theatre, 35th and Lisbon, imposes lifetime ban on Paul and Frank, age 13, for chronic sneaking in and throwing JuJubes at the screen during Invasion of the BodySnatchers.
1956, October, Father Gibbons tells congregation at St. Thomas Aquinas church (36th and Brown) that anyone who goes to the Parkway, 35th and Lisbon, to see the film Baby Doll will burn in hell for all eternity.
“The words Deep Throat first appeared on the old iron marquee of the Parkway Theatre at 34th and Lisbon on Dec. 26, 1972. It was just another dirty movie playing at one of the city’s growing population of adult theaters. But soon enough, Milwaukee learned what Deep Throat was.
