Road Companies Give $221,200 to Walker
9 of 15 companies just picked to rebuild I-94 donate to governor’s campaign.
Owners and employees of nine of the 15 companies picked by the state to rebuild a portion of Interstate 94 have contributed about $221,200 to Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s campaigns.
The subcontractors for the project were announced Tuesday by the state Department of Transportation after the general contractor, Michels Corp., was chosen in late May. The $169 million reconstruction of I-94’s northbound lanes will start Friday.
The companies and their employee contributions to the governor are:
Michels Corp., of Brownsville, $143,435
Payne & Dolan, of Waukesha, $28,550
Century Fence Co., of Pewaukee, $18,000
Lunda Construction, of Black River Falls, $14,050
Hoffman Construction, of Black River Falls, about $8,300
Arbor Green, of Portage, $6,500
Mega Rentals, of Madison, $1,000
Pavement Maintenance, of Menomonee Falls, $1,000
Arrow-Crete Construction, of Milwaukee, $400
Among these companies, the top individual contributors to Walker came from the family owners of Michels Corp., including:
Timothy Michels, vice president, and his wife, Barbara, of Hartland, $50,500
Kevin Michels, vice president, and his wife, Connie, of Brownsville, $35,000
Patrick Michels, president, of Brownsville, $30,000
