  1. I saw that demo action Friday. I was impressed by the sight, and can’t wait for the construction.

This is an important project for both MIAD and the Third Ward. More density, more activity, more art culture, and a true campus identity… Can’t wait to watch this go up. With this project and the upcoming Kimpton Hotel, the Third Ward is really blossoming.

With Utrecht’s rumored move from Catalano Square, I hope to see that space developed into a great bar/restaurant/cafe. Always thought the plaza could benefit from some cafe seating along the edge.

  3. Anon says:

Happy to see more development, but isn’t it the HISTORIC Third Ward? Milwaukee needs to do a better job of protecting its historic buildings. The building facade could have, and should have, been saved and incorporated into a new building.

  4. Bill says:

I wonder about the space on the west side of MIAD on the river… why was that not utilized for student housing?

  5. Dave Reid says:

@Bill At one point there was an RFP that went out and a lot of sites were considered. But to some extent it makes sense to have the student housing right across the street from the school and the union.
