Milwaukee celebrates 167 years

The Milwaukee Press Club hosted a birthday gala at the Grain Exchange Thursday evening.

Hard to believe, but as of yesterday, January 31, Milwaukee’s 167 years old. (She doesn’t even look a day over 145!)

To celebrate the city’s long-ago incorporation – not always a given, thanks to some feisty feuding between the original cities of Juneautown and Kibourntown on opposite sides of the river – the Milwaukee Press Club hosted a grand birthday party at the Grain Exchange, bringing together Mayor Barrett, the Common Council and other local leaders. We sent TCD photo editor Lacy Landre to join them for the festivities, and she brought back this photo gallery of the night’s events. Take a look, and if you see yourself in a picture, don’t hesitate to hop on over to our Facebook page or Flickr gallery to tag yourself.

Here’s to another 167, Milwaukee!

The Press Club really is a great resource for aspiring journalists – from my experiences there, I highly recommend it!
