This is the building that I expected Gorman to deliver. Parking around the base, strange brick proportions, etc… Terrible? No. Missed opportunity? Yep.

  2. Jesse says:

bland — instead of trying to ‘fit in’ why not design something that will stand out while honoring the past. The new Soldier Field in Chicago comes to mind.

  3. Jesse Hagen says:

It’s hard to fall in love with this building, even with the so so renderings. It’s much better than other projects I’ve seen, I give it a B.

  4. Chris says:

I think you’re being quite generous with the grade. I’d go no higher than a C. Gorman is doing the bare minimum here, and it shows. It’s too bad considering other development in the Brewery has set the bar higher — especially with sustainable features.

  5. Jesse Hagen says:

Well, bare minimum as in the least the city would let them do? I don’t know that, maybe it is. Bare minimum as in least quality building that could be executed… well, take a drive around the metro… I think otherwise.

I’m giving them a bit of the pass for the parking, considering the relative lack of transit there & overlooking the freeway. This ain’t no Brady Street… there are other battles for the ped realm that matter.
