New trends for fall accessories

Boy did summer go fast this year. Although I miss the summer weather, I’m happy to see fall approaching. I love the crisp air, the fall colors and putting on the first sweater of the season. Fall is a great time for fashion and accessories. This year, there’s plenty to be excited about, including a great local place to get in-style accessories at prices everyone can afford.

Before we get into accessories of the season, I have to share a great find with all of my fashionista friends. Located in Pleasant Prairie is an accessory boutique called Charming Charlie. On my first visit I wanted to buy everything my checking balance could yield. I exhibited great restraint and told the cheerful associate at the door “This store is pure evil.” and “No, I do not want a shopping basket.” Before my escape, I drooled over the displays full of feathers, bling and bright colors. At Charming Charlie, you’ll find oodles of accessories arranged by color pallet in all the latest styles. Rings, bracelets, necklaces, shoes, select pieces of clothing, and hair knick-knacks. The selections are endless and they are available at a price that won’t make you feel too guilty after you’ve loaded up your shopping basket!

Now, on to accessories!

Super hot for fall – Menswear inspired fashion!

I love menswear inspired fashion. Lucky for me, it’s one of fall’s hottest looks. Finish off your menswear look (trousers, jackets, pinstripes, rolled up jeans and vests) with two of my favorite accessory finds:

“Bow Tie Necklace” – Jess Amity.

Jess Amity puts a unique twist to wearing a bow-tie. It screams fun and originality and is available in a variety of patterns. Check out her site to see her awesome creations.

“Birdie” – Born Shoes.

Born Shoes has an excellent line of menswear inspired shoes. I love “Birdie”! They feature a traditional oxford shoe on a nice size heel paired with beautiful velvet laces. A beautiful blend of masculine and feminine.

Long Earrings

A key accessory piece this fall is long, dangly earrings. Don’t be shy… everyone can wear them! They look great with short or long hair and can really add the finishing touch to your outfit. Choose something with velvet accents, lace inspired designs, beads, or bling. Use them to add a feminine touch to the menswear style. For fabulous dangly earrings, check out Pink Bliss’ great selection of handmade beauties.

“Flamenco Nights”

Velvet

Another hot trend for fall is velvet — luxurious and daring and ultimately feminine. Pair velvet in exotic combinations — velvet and suede, velvet and leather, velvet and menswear. I love this pair of Lolita velvet cuffs. They are fun, feminine and truly unique. Use them to add a flare of fun to a classic white shirt or a blazer.

Clutches

The clutch is back and has emerged as the bag for fall. Clutches have come a long way and can be found in a variety of sizes, structure and materials. I especially love this black velvet clutch. It is modern, simple and can be used with casual and more formal outfits.

Rainy day fun

Yes it’s fall, but in Wisconsin that means rain. And those rainy days need accessories too! I secretly love splashing around in puddles and walking in the rain. One thing though… I don’t like to get wet! These two items are bright, fun and sassy and will help keep you dry.

Bogs Boots. Photo used with permission.

Aren’t these Bogs boots fun? Beautifully made, great function and design and available in bright colors. These babies are water proof and are great for both rain and snow!

“Goggles” – Ella Umbrella.

Protect your coif with “Goggles.” This sassy yellow bubble from Ella Umbrella provides protection from the rain and has a goggle shaped cut-out so you can see where you’re walking (or splashing) without lifting the umbrella out of the way. Can’t wait to get mine!

You actually didn’t buy a thing when you were there? I love Flamenco Nights (with the lovely red coral), the Lolita Cuffs and the Bog boots especially!
