Countdown to the Big Gig
In less than a week, Milwaukee’s lakefront will play host to hundreds of thousands of music lovers from all over the country and beyond. No matter how you personally feel about Summerfest, one thing is for sure: with more than 600 live musical acts across multiple genres over 11 days of summer, it’s a sight to behold.
Each year the festival seems to outdo itself, adding bigger national acts, more attractions and an impressive list of local and regional bands than the year before. 2011 is no different, with a slew of big-name acts like Kanye West, Peter Gabriel, Toby Keith, The Black Keys and more headlining the Marcus Amphitheater. Coupled with an impressive group on the free stages, this year offers a great live music experience at a fine price. For $15, festival-goers can see Loretta Lynn, The Flaming Lips, Hall and Oates and hundreds of other past, present and future favorites perform live on Milwaukee’s lakefront.
To gear up for the lakefront phenomenon, Entertainment guru and festival veteran Bob Babisch (also the Vice President of Entertainment for Summerfest) gives us a taste of what the “world’s largest music festival” will offer in 2011 – from a stellar lineup to what may be the largest (and loudest) fireworks display in festival history.Listen now:
