MAM After Dark returns to the future
There’s truly no reason that any person who loves art, mingling and more art should be bored this weekend. It’s once again time for MAM After Dark, the monthly hip art party that takes place at the Milwaukee Art Museum, after hours, of course. This month’s theme: The Future Is Now.
During these evening soirees, visitors gain access to the galleries (haven’t seen the Warhol exhibit yet? Here’s your chance!) and get to enjoy 88Nine’s DJ Madhatter (aka Jordan Lee), complimentary food, a cash bar and more.
But this isn’t simply a spectator sport. You can pose for snapshots for free at the After Dark Photo Booth; create robots and other futuristic widgets using recycled and reclaimed materials at the popular DYI Studio; and take in film shorts (15 minutes each) by local film and video artists, such as Nathaniel Stern, Toby Kaufmann-Buhler, ERTROC, Pete Wollaeger, Mike Brenner, Steve Ralph and others.
And, you don’t want to miss the awesome performance installations by students in UWM’s Dance and Digital Media departments. Look for student teams to pair up for performances between 8 and 10 p.m. in Windover Hall.
The last MAM After Dark of the year is scheduled for Dec. 18. MAM After Dark events extend from 5 p.m. to Midnight. Tickets cost $12 at the door. Check the MAM website for more details.
