Harley-Davidson Tribute to Veterans – Celebrating Troop Café
Troop Café (3430 W. Wisconsin Ave.) will host a “Tribute to Veterans” from Nov 6. – 13.
(Milwaukee 10/17/2013) – Troop Café (3430 W. Wisconsin Ave.) will host a “Tribute to Veterans” from Nov 6. – 13. The week kicks off on Nov. 6th at 1 p.m. with an intimate event sponsored by The Harley-Davidson Foundation, one of Troop Café’s major supporters. Harley-Davidson executives and military veterans will serve lunch alongside Troop Café Staff to CVI veterans, staff and special guests in honor of Veteran’s Day and to celebrate the opening of the cafe.
An official-“Grand Opening”-featuring a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, keynote speakers and a plaque dedication for the many sponsors of Troop Café is part of the Nov. 6th activities. Speakers will include two vet trainees from Troop Café, Center for Veterans Issues leadership, an executive from Harley Davidson and City leaders who will talk about the effects of programs of this type in Milwaukee, and the importance of city-wide collaborations between the private and non-profit sectors.
Festivities continue with specials for veterans and the public at Troop Café on Nov. 7th and 8th, followed by the Veteran’s Parade on Nov. 9th. More information on events happening on Veterans Day Nov. 11, as well as Nov.12th and 13th will be announced later this month.
Troop Café is a non-profit café that provides food service/hospitality training and job placement for U.S. veterans. Troop Café serves affordable, healthy breakfasts and lunches to the public Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Additionally, a catering program features box lunches for local businesses. All profits are funneled back into the job training program at Troop Café.
