Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation

MILWAUKEE, WIS. – The Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) has debuted a re-brand at their annual luncheon event at the Brookfield Conference Center in Brookfield on Tuesday. This is the most extensive re-brand WWBIC has undergone in over 25 years.

“We’re so excited to debut our fresh, new, contemporary look,” says Wendy K. Baumann, WWBIC President and Chief Visionary Officer. Baumann has led WWBIC since 1994. “I’m so proud of how WWBIC has been able to assist our clients in ‘Putting Dreams to Work’ in the last 37 years, and this new branding will help position us for future success.”

WWBIC is an economic development corporation which was founded in Milwaukee in 1987 and has since grown to become an AERIS-rated CDFI with a loan portfolio of over $25 million that serves over 5,000 clients across Wisconsin annually.

“In addition to a new logo, we’re also updating the language we use to describe what it is we do,” says Christina Knudsen, Vice President of Development and Communication for WWBIC. “Often those who know about WWBIC think of us as just a microlender or an organization that teaches small business owners how to create a business plan, but our services are much more comprehensive.”

WWBIC has four pillars which summarize the services and programs they offer:

  • Credit/Financial Wellness – WWBIC encourages financial wellness for small business owners and all Wisconsinites through training sessions that provide credit recovery assistance and tips on how to save money.
  • Classes/Trainings – WWBIC offers entrepreneurship training sessions statewide including a popular 9-week course on building a business plan. Trainings are available in person or online, offered year-round, many at no fee.
  • Capital/Lending – WWBIC is a CDFI and equal opportunity lender. They are the state’s largest microlender; providing access to fair and responsible capital for business start-ups and expansions.
  • Connections/Coaching- WWBIC provides valuable individualized feedback to clients through technical assistance, sustaining relationships with clients to ensure they have access to the tools and skills they need to grow profitable, sustainable businesses.

The new logo will launch on WWBIC’s website and social media channels on Tuesday. Over 1,000 clients, funders, partners and volunteers were on hand for the WWBIC luncheon where the new brand was introduced.
