Work to Resume on I-43 Resurfacing and Improvement Project in Milwaukee County

Beginning the week of May 4, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will resume work on the I-43 resurfacing and improvement project between Bender Road and the Oak Leaf Trail in Milwaukee County.

Work to be completed:

  • Noise wall replacement
  • Retaining wall repairs
  • Resurface I-43 southbound outside lane and shoulder between Bender Road and Silver Spring Drive
  • New pavement markings

Traffic impacts:

Southbound I-43 between Good Hope Road and Silver Spring Drive will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes.

Northbound Jean Nicolet Road, between Montclaire Avenue and Bender Road, is scheduled to close through fall 2026.

Local access will be maintained.

Schedule:

Construction on this project began in mid-2025 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
